Rates of suicide in the United States have risen, and suicide continues to be a leading cause
of death. In 2019 alone, more than 47,500 lives were lost to suicide (CDC Report, 2020).

CSTS is a leader in suicide prevention research with knowledge gained from the Center's STARRS (Study to Assess Risk and Resilience in Service Members) study informing the Suicide Prevention Program and translating science into evidence-based resoures to reduce suicidal behaviors and associated risk factors.
